The UCC has implemented PT Application Firewall Pro to protect critical web resources.
UCSB, a Russian system integrator, has implemented the PT Application Firewall Pro from Positive Technologies to enhance the security of its corporate web resources. Positive Technologies representatives told CNews about this.
Websites that process personal data were prioritized for protection: the company's main portal, where clients submit applications and contact information, and the careers website, where job seekers post resumes. Downtime on these resources or a leak of the information they process poses significant risks, so the UCSB was tasked with building a reliable security layer.
When selecting a solution, the UCSB experts relied on many years of experience using web application security tools. In 2023, PT Application Firewall was deployed within the company's infrastructure to secure internal services—webmail, corporate portal, file storage, student training portal, and web interfaces for external users. This solution continues to operate successfully today, proving its reliability. For the new protection layer for external websites, another product from the vendor's line—PT Application Firewall Pro—was selected. The UCSB's experience in commissioning and maintaining PT AF Pro ensured a quick and high-quality launch.
An additional factor was the ability to leverage the UCSB's in-house expertise: implementation and configuration are carried out by engineers from the systems integration department, while subsequent technical and administrative support will be provided by the operations department and internal information security specialists, who act as functional users of the solution. Deployment was completed as close as possible to the protected resources – on the same hosting platform and in the same data center where the company's IT infrastructure is located. This eliminated the risks associated with bandwidth, which are inevitable when using external services hosted in other locations, as offered by other providers.
Thanks to the product's flexible architecture, it took just three days to implement the core functionality and configure security policies for key external sites. The project is now in its final stages: acceptance testing has been successfully completed, and the system has been transferred into permanent operation.
The deployed solution provides continuous, proactive protection for corporate portals handling personal data against mass and targeted attacks. A single management console allows for centralized control of security policies, and the container architecture ensures that a load or attack on one segment will not impact the operation of others.
