Clario specialists have identified 32 criteria for personal data of interest to the company. This includes email addresses, full names, health and family information, mother's maiden name, and place of birth. Some companies are also interested in user height and weight. Typically, fitness apps request this data, but there is at least one financial service that also requests this information. Some applications also require job data, including salary and past jobs.
Most of the data about users is collected by Facebook and its "daughter" Instagram. Of all 32 data criteria, Facebook collects 70.59%. Of course, the company needs them not only to improve the user experience of the social network, but also for targeted advertising. Instagram collects 58.82% of data, and unlike Facebook, it is not interested in data on race, marital status, and sexual orientation.
Facebook and Instagram are followed by the dating apps Tinder and Grindr. They are not interested in as many details about users as Facebook, but they need to know their height and details about bank accounts.
